Where Living History Meets Modern China

Dates: April 12-21 2026 (Peony season)  Duration: 10 days

Location: Luoyang & Surrounding areas (Chenjiagou & Shaolin Temple)

Group size: Minimum 5 participants, maximum 10 participants

Why the Journey Begins in Luoyang

Luoyang, located in China’s Central Plains, is one of the most significant cultural birthplaces of Chinese civilization.

As the ancient capital of more than nine dynasties and the cosmopolitan center of the flourishing Tang Dynasty, Luoyang has long been regarded as the heart of China’s ancient brilliance—a place where ideas, people, and cultures converged from all directions. From the Tang to the Yuan dynasty, Luoyang also served as the eastern starting point of the Silk Road. Exchanges between East and West here fostered the movement of goods, the sharing of ideas and culture, and a long-standing tradition of mutual respect. For this reason, we chose Luoyang as the starting point of our China cultural journey.

Rooted in the yellow earth of the Central Plains, Luoyang is the origin of many foundational elements of traditional Chinese culture, including classical philosophy, medicine, martial arts, and cosmology. Concepts such as the Yijing and the Bagua, traditional Chinese medicine, Tai Chi (originating from nearby Chenjiagou Village), and Shaolin martial arts (from nearby Dengfeng) all trace their roots to this region.

In April, Luoyang comes alive with the blooming of its famous peonies—China’s national flower—offering a rare opportunity to experience the city at its most vibrant. Through this journey, participants will not only explore iconic cultural landmarks such as the Longmen Grottoes and world-class museums, but also engage deeply with local communities and contemporary life.

This trip is designed not as a conventional sightseeing tour, but as an immersive cultural experience—one that invites participants to engage with China’s historical layers, philosophical traditions, and living heritage through place-based exploration and guided interpretation.
